Every so often my muscles on right side of my body cramp up. I can't put weight on my bent wrist, my right leg gets very tight and sore, and my right shoulder into my neck cramps up so tightly I can't turn my head or move it properly. It is part of a mild relapse happening at the moment - but it's not affecting my energy too much so I know it will pass.
What do you do to help this?

I've tried massage, heat, extra magnesium and calcium for the last week. No avail. Extra painkillers too but they only work to an extent. I have a Physiotherapist appointment tomorrow - hopeful that she will help because she got movement back in my arm after 10 years of tightness. If I didn't have my little son I'd take a Rivotril tablet, but I find they leave me dangerously tired afterwards for 2 days so I can't do that at the moment.

see if a good shot of potassium helps? a normal supp of 50-99mg would not be good enough, you'd have to ask the pharmacist what you can get over the counter that's more potent.. i have had relief of sudden cramps (in my case, in the feet) from 600mg potassium.

JL

I assume rheumatology has been ruled out for you. I am dealing with the same thing I cant rotate my shoulder, and my wrist is very sore mostly near my thumb. but I also wake up with arthritis type pain and stiffness. It just started last week. btw I have been diagnosed still with nothing. but I most likely have CIDP and something rheumatological.

Thanks JL, Bubba & Tara. JL the extra potassium didn't do much, bubba the ibuprofen didn't do much either - but thanks for the suggestions! The physio worked wonders. She massaged, twisted, pulled and prodded. Finally squashed my back really hard! She says it is not directly MS-caused but is a bone/muscle problem made worse by limiting my movement in my right side because of MS-weakness. One week later the pain is nearly gone. I'm going back for one more session with her on Tues. Thanks again for the replies.

hey there, the potassium idea was a bit of a crap shoot since i have not had to deal with the shoulder pain thing specifically... remind me how much vit D you take daily? and also, how much cal and mag, including timing of intake thru the day?
