The UAE's Multiple Sclerosis (MS) community is set to become the first in the region to benefit from a new oral medication designed to reduce debilitating symptoms and prevent disability, it was announced today by Dr. Ali Al Sayed, Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Dr. Al Sayed said the new therapy called Gilenya (fingolimod) is now available in the UAE after being approved as a first-line treatment in a number of countries for relapsing forms of MS, which affect two-thirds of those diagnosed with the disease that causes muscle weakness, problems with coordination, and impaired concentration.
