Hello all I have to say I can't believe now many new people are on this website. This is my first time one here. I was just diagnosed in July 2010 and I live in Toronto, Canada. I started on Avonex 4 weeks ago. This whole process of being diagnosed and starting medication has been so stressful. There is so much to learn. I am hoping that I will be able to learn from you all here on this site.

If there is anyone else out there who enjoys triathlons or even running and you have MS I would love to hear from you. I am not doing this as much at the moment while I get used to the medication but I am hoping to become more active again in the future............

Bella

Hey Bella

I've had MS for 6 years and I hit the gym for atleast an hour and a half, five days a week. I've been on Avonex for 5 years. Initially I lost a pile of weight because I was completely lethargic and the relapses stopped me from doing anything. Now that I've been free of relapses, I'm in better shape than the majority of people I know. One thing I found out about MS is that you eventually learn to eat much better than the normal person. That's how it worked for me anyway.

Thanks,
Dan

Hello Dan nice to meet you.

It is nice to hear from someone who loves the gym as much as I do.
So far I am not getting relapses but the Avonex is making me really tired. I hope this will lessen. I am doing the ride for MS this weekend so we shall see how this goes! Yes a healthy diet. I was kind of pushed in this direction because I am gluten and dairy intolerant.........it seems to be in everything that is "unhealthy" but yummy!!
