Hi all,

A little about me - I'm 42 years old and live in Toronto, Canada.
I was diagnosed on Sept. 01, 2010.

I am currently living with a tingling feeling sometimes stronger on my right side. I also have double vision.

I am reading Managing Multiple Sclerosis Naturally and am following the BBD and am taking loads of vitamins.

Any advice on dealing with these attacks, food, suppliments and finding a good neurologist - i'm in need of one.

Thanks any help would be appreciated.

welcome mission, there is lots of info and there are lots of perspectives here at TIMS.

on the nutrition front, please feel free to start reading my
'signature links' below.

you might also like to read about developments/debate on the newer CCSVI developments wrt MS.

recent diagnosis time is no fun. at least you are here so soon!

again, welcome to TIMS and happy reading!

Thanks for the hello ppicklee and Jimmylegs.

Jimmylegs - There is so much reading on MS and a difference on the type and amount of suppliments but suppliments are common it's just so confusing and overwhelming.

What should I look for in finding a good neurologist and naturopath any info here would be beneficial and grateful.

Thanks again for the welcome.

hi mission,

i am not the best to advise on a neurologist or naturopath.

i can tell you that if your family doc will order blood tests for you, i can provide you with a list and some backup info to justify.

maybe someone else will chime in with more info :)

good luck!

JL

I'm seeing my family dr. tomorrow, would appreciate which blood tests I need, they've taken so many vials from me already. I should find out tomorrow.

Thanks

Hi mission
I'm sorry but I cannot advise as to what blood tests to ask for. When I "do" blood it is usually 3-4 vials. Unless it is something specific, that is my "normal" amount. Your family physician will probably recommend some neurologists to choose from. I hope all goes well for you.

hi there sorry i did not see this til end of day monday!

for starters, you can ask for serum b12, serum vitamin d3 [ ask for 25(OH)D3 metabolite specifically), serum zinc, serum magnesium, and serum uric acid. that should make a good starting point.

your levels will probably all come back 'normal' but they will likely fit a typical ms profile within the normal range. once you know where you stand you can aim to make changes so that you match a 'healthy control' profile.

sorry this did not get to you before your appointment :(
