Getting ready for CCSVI in Albany...
Hi! I am new to this site (not MS - I have been RR for almost 20 yrs) and am hoping for a bit of help...I am scheduled to go for CCSVI surgery in November with Dr. Mandato, but I am curious when I read about people whose veins 're-stenose'. If that is a possibility, even a slim one, why don't they use stents for every procedure? I do understand blood clot risks, etc., but the benefits seems to outweigh having to redo the surgery...?

If you want to find information about CCSVI - more information that you can possibly even read before November - please check out this link to the CCSVI Forum here at TIMS - entirely devoted to CCSVI:
http://www.thisisms.com/forum/chronic-c ... ccsvi-f40/
There are several general information threads to read, but you can also post specific questions and should get much more response than here in the Introductions Forum.
Good luck!
P.S. I just checked and there are now 5,523 threads (or topics) in the CCSVI forum.
Dx'd with MS & HNPP (hereditary peripheral neuropathy) 7/03 but must have had MS for 30 yrs before that. I've never taken meds for MS except 1 yr experiment on LDN. (I found diet, exercise, sleep, humor, music help me the most.)

Opening up the veins in the body can only be a good thing but there are risk to any medical procedure. THere have been studies done concerning this procedure. Diet is also a way of opening up the arteries in the body. Dr. Swank has an excellent diet which addresses this problem.
