I just discovered this site while googling information about the Wahls Diet, but here I am! I'm 19, just diagnosed last August.

My first significant attack was in April (and in the middle of finals). My main symptom was the entire right side of my body going numb and tingling; like I fell asleep on half of my body. Went to the ER where they did a few tests and performed a CAT scan (not MRI) and then they said it was either from stress or it was a neurological problem. Then after telling me I should see a neurologist, they sent me home. However, I was unable to go to a neuro because the only insurance I had at the time was school insurance, and that barely covers anything.

And then in August after I'd just started a waitressing job, the left side of the body just went weak, severely affecting my balance and walking ability. I went to my physical therapist (for a completely unrelated problem) and she performed a balance test which I failed and told me I should go to the ER. I went again and after learning that this was the second time this was happening to me, they performed an MRI. Then the doctor told us the news and that they were going to do an LP since they were only 95% sure and they wanted to confirm it. So they did it, it was confirmed, then they put me on steroids for a few weeks. Then they referred me to an MS clinic and now I'm on Betaseron.

And that's the short notes of the past year for me, so hello again!

You might want to consider diet as a means of treatment. Dr. Swank treated MS successfully for over 50 years and he didn't use drugs.

I'm on the Swank diet, I forgot to mention. I've just recently heard of the Wahls diet which was why I was trying to look up information about it, but thank you anyway.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but welcome to the board, from a fellow newbie. I just found out 2 weeks ago myself.

I haven't really had the chance to try many of the options yet myself, but I'm taking moderately-high-dosage vitamin-d (10000 UI, daily), and it seemed to clear up my symptoms fairly fast. I'm also using exercise as a form of stress-management to mitigate the amount of exacerbations; I'm given to understand that stress causes more exacerbations. Both of these seem to be working so far as my last exacerbation only lasted about 3 weeks as opposed to my usual 5-6 weeks. Every little bit helps, right? :)

Do not know if you have seen this video on Dr. Wahl. The paleolithic diet has shown succcess in treating many of these neurological diseases we are seeing today. It is amazing what some have done by changing their diet.
