So I have been having a lot of numbness, tingling, cold, burning, and pain in my legs arms and shoulders. I haven't done anything different lately and these sudden, random and lengthily symptoms are starting to scare me... How do I know if I should be worried about MS? I am not sure where to turn. I would greatly appreciate some advice. I am a 23 year old female.

You might check out the diet section which discribes some diets which are helpful in treating autoimmune disease. Have you gone to the dentist lately? Too much mercury in your mouth could be the answer.

All of the symptoms associated with MS can occur for other reasons, so you really shouldn't be worrying about MS until the most common causes have been tested for and eliminated. Have you seen a doctor yet?

Regarding mercury, I have/had 7 fillings. I told my dentist I have MS and was wanting to see about removing them. He said the National MS Society found no correlation with mercury and MS. However, I told him I wanted them out anyway. On Monday I replaced the 3 on my right side and in a few weeks will have the other 4 removed. Probably won't help, but it won't hurt. Well, it hurt a little!

The cause of MS is the many toxins we put in our bodies. We must find out source of these toxins and stop exposing our bodies to them. The most deadly toxin out there is mercury. Everyone knows it is a poison but these dentist think it is OK to put it in our mouth. Replacing the fillings is just one thing to getting your health back. It is important that the fillings are removed by a mercury free dentist who will follow a protocol which will not allow the free mercury to get back into the body. Removing the mercury from your teeth is only half the treatment. We must get the mercury out of our body. There are detoxification programs which do this. If you do not do a detoxification program eating a diet of raw fruits and vegetables give the body the nutrients it needs to heal itself. All the diets on this site recommend eating the real food and not the process foods which make the body sick. Here is a link to a book which gives a detoxification program.

Did I word that wrong? I was talking about the most common causes of the symptoms. For tons of sx, MS is not the most common cause/source.

I don't believe anyone can say what the causes of MS are...

Paresthesia, spasticity and cognitive impairment are the ones I hear about the most, but I don't know if anyone has actually collected that kind of data.

I think the important thing is that a MS dx is essentially just a description of a clinical condition (roughly: multiple CNS lesion sites that appeared at different times). Our nervous systems interact with our whole bodies in multiple ways (sensory, motor), the variety of possible MS sx reflect all the varieties of CNS interaction.
