Hello everybody

Postby ComnSense31 » Fri Sep 13, 2013 9:24 am

Just a brief introduction since I am new to this site. I am 31 years old, living in Las Vegas, originally from the upstate NY area, and was diagnosed Halloween of 2012. I am new to MS personally, but I have always been relatively familiar with the disease being that my mom has this too.

I have been on Gilenya for the past 6 or 7 weeks and feel as though it has had very good results for me and has reduced many of the symptoms I have in my lower body such as a constant cramp in my quad muscles and numbness in between both of my legs. The numbness was also very prevalent underneath the balls of both of my feet. But now it is back as of this morning. I had a very strange experience in the middle of the night and I am wondering if anybody out there could shed some insight into what happened. As I was drifting to sleep, I basically felt a very sharp and sudden electrical jolt go through the left side of my brain. It was the strangest sensation I have ever felt. I wouldn't say that it hurt, just that it was strange and alarming. I then attempted to go back to sleep, and then I was having similar sensations but this time on both sides of my brain, simultaneously and the electric current feeling was more subtle. It went on for quite a few minutes. I would describe the feeling by saying it was like my brain had a pulse of its own, a rhythmic beat just like your heart. It was so strange. In any case, I woke up this morning to discover that the bottoms of my feet were once again very numb, as well as both my legs. I am concerned that the resurfacing of my leg and feet numbness may be a result of what I experienced in bed last night, and should I call my neurologist about it? I'm not sure how to process it or what to do about it, if there is anything that I can do.

Thank you for taking your time to read my post, and have a great day!

Welcome to ThisIsMS. Yes, I would recommend calling your neurologist.
