Can you use LDN while still on Imuran and Prednisone?

Post by debmoran »

My husband is still on Imuran and is weaning off of Prednisone. He just quit Rebif as it was making him feel terrible - though his MS specialist said it was all in his head. I'm hoping the new neuro will consider Copaxone and LDN, but I'm worried about the Imuran and how long it will take him to finish weaning from Prednisone.

Any ideas or comments will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

I just posted a message asking about the steroids out of curiosity. I know that I read somewhere that you shouldn't take LDN with solumedrol. By looking at the date on your posting, your dilemna may have resolved itself. Isn't Imuran for migraines? I've been out of the medical loop for a bit, so correct me if I am wrong.

It sounds like your husband's doc might have been the same doc my son had. I cannot imagine anyone claiming difficulties with Rebif to be "all in your head". I'd like to use that auto injector on a couple of docs that I know and see how well they tolerate it.

Anyway, if you got an answer, please post it so we will all know. And let us know how your husband is doing if he has started the LDN. Take care!

Just a quick note. I got raised eyebrows from 2 different Neuro's when I said that the Rebif was making me feel shocking.

"I've never heard of Rebif doing that ..."

Im NOT going onto Interferon. That stuff is worse than the disease itself!

You know, I've heard many people say that Rebif didn't agree with them, and have stopped taking it.

I shouldn't butt in here, but as far as taking LDN in combination with anything, I personally would have to say not to. LDN enhances immune system function, and all the other injectables work to suppress immune system function (or at least parts of it). Copaxone is a little different, but it still has mechanisms of action that act on the immune system function, so again, I'm not sure if combining the two would do anything except cancel each other out at the very least.

Interestingly enough, if you talk to many LDN users, you will find that alot of people start out using LDN and Copaxone together, but usually discontinue the Copaxone after a bit. I'm sure some use it as a "safety net" and some use it just to get their neuros to prescribe the LDN. Just thought I'd throw that in! Take care!

Kim,

Yea...........I didn't see anything that indicated that there would be any dire interactions using the two together, either.

Just that it didn't seem to necessarily help, is all. Might as well just try one or the other alone. Which is pretty much what you just said, too!

Great minds think alike.
