Can anyone make a recommendation for a natural vitamin/supplement to battle muscle stiffness?

You'll want to search the forums for magnesium citrate. Most of the recommendations are to take this combined with calcium and zinc. Search for magnesium and Jimmylegs' posts.

Don't forget to try to do some stretching everyday. I find that helpful.

also, potassium works with magnesium.

we need something like 4500mg intake daily. you'd have to either eat 5 bananas a day (or equivalent) or get over-the-counter potassium from the pharmacist.

regular off-the-shelf potassium supplements might be 99mg. you can probably find pills in the neighbourhood of 600mg over the counter, without prescription.

but don't forget to search mag citrate!!

JL

Valerian Root, They have tea and extract. They sell it wholesale online for cheap. My entire left side is tight and spasms and this stuff really helps out very much. I have also heard about Calcium and Magnesium supplements. There is a powdered form that is suppose to be the fastest acting. Send me a message if you have any questions.

Peace,
Scott

omg i can NOT do things like valerian. i tried it once for sleep and was off work for 3 days incapacitated before i realized it was that herb!
the powdered mag i know about is called natural calm, i've bought it a couple times and it is a good form (citrate) but it is not mixed with calcium, unless they have a specific line for that??

Hello all, am new to this forum and having a great time going to the various forums to put in my two cents and am really grateful for this new community and all that you all have to offer me!
On stiffness, I would say get your body on a yoga mat, if you can and do some basic stretching every morning and evening, if only for 10 to 15 min...it helps. Or better yet, find a yoga class nearby. But just having a mat at home to put down on the floor and give your body a little attention is a help.
Also the Indian herb Ashwagandadha is wonderful for calming the nerves, can be had in a tea or capsule. It is the main herb used in the east for MS. Check it out.
Peace,
Zinamaria

Hi,

I've had MS since 1991 and here's what works for me:

1. Aerobic exercise (brisk walking and jogging) five days and week and weight lifting three days a week.

2. Stretching - the neurologists send me to physical therapy every now and then to learn any needed stretching exercises. Stretching is awesome. (I had hopes of being sent to physical therapy for massage but, alas, that did not materialize. Nope, it was more work. LOL)

The combination of these two things keep me in good shape. I did a web site on other stuff I do too. It is at http://intelligentguidetoms.wordpress.com . The other things don't apply directly to stiffness but are just part of my overall wellness program.
