Discussion of statins (Lipitor, Zocor, etc.) in the treatment of MS.

question

I am going for a Stem cell transplant next week. I have been on Lipitor for at least 4 years, to decrease the inflammation in my brain (and decrease my CRP) My question is , should I stop it so that the stem cells recognize where there is inflammation and damage?

Interferon and atorvastatin may increase disease activity

The combination of 40 or 80 mg atorvastatin with thrice weekly, 44 mcg interferon beta-1a in persons with multiple sclerosis resulted in increased MRI and clinical disease activity. Caution is suggested in administering this combination.

Crestor

Family doctor told me my cholesterol is high so I agreed to try a statin (crestor). when I got it home I read in the instructions that one of the possible side affects is muscle spasms but thought well according to this forum they help ms, my legs are locking up like a vice, worse than usual.
