My suggestion is to take it before bed. Hopefully you will be able to sleep throught the majority of the flu-like symptoms. You may be one of the lucky ones and not get this reaction. I did my first shot during the day with the nurse to see if I had an adverse reaction to the med. Then I switched over to doing the shot about an hour before bed.

Good luck!

1. Take close to bed time.
2. Take two Aleve (naproxen sodium) an hour before injection.
3. At that same time, take needle out of fridge and set on counter.
4. After injection, rub area hard for like 30 seconds.
5. Use icepack after if you have pain.

My other personal reccomendation is to inject fast. After fooling with slow, fast, and everything inbetween, I think it ends up causing the least pain. I poke, grab the plunger, and just do it.

Would happy to share anything else, just let me know.

Hi k8jsl, I agree with Momsboyz. Better to get into the habit of doing shots at night , just in case you do have reactions. I started off by taking 2 Tylenol and 3 Advil one hour before injecting. Only had a reaction once, and strangely enough, it was when I was still on the 22mcg. dose--joint and muscle discomfort. Woke me up, but I soon returned to sleep. Now, I'm down to 1 Tylenol + 1 Advil before injections. Been on the full 44 mcg. dose since April. I've been very fortunate so far, with only 1 flu like reaction since starting. Let us know how it's going.

Well so far so good,
I took it around 6pm just to see what would happen if anything..
kinds hard to tell if I had the fever like symptoms it was HOT today !!

The only thing I did notice was I kinda felt 'disconnected' about a hour after injection....
