Hi JL!

I know you get asked about supplements constantly...so I hope you can forgive more questions!

Can you explain again how you're taking magnesium glycinate, and what brand you're using? I think you had mentioned one from New Roots before. I also remember you saying that you take the citrate form of mag at night, and glycinate during the day with food? And here comes the REALLY annoying question: would you mind listing your current supplement regimen (I don't know if you've changed anything recently)--and how much of each you take?

Thanks so much, JL!

hiya! no worries

i take magnesium glycinate. the brand is kirkman. i take glycinate before a meal, when there's no chance i'll be lying down. that one i want down in my intestines asap, or it will relax my LES and make me cough (odd heartburn symptom).

i do take mag citrate as well, at least one at bed time, and possibly others at mealtimes (not the meal where i take the mag glycinate though). it's okay to take mag citrate after a meal. it's not as crazy on me.

i'm not suggesting everyone would react to mag glycinate the way i did, but this is just how i do it for the best result with no side effects.

new roots has a magnesium bisglycinate product but it's too strong for me. that's the one that made me cough for a year, including dry heaves, no sleep, lost all kinds of weight, took me ages to realize it was a relaxed LES. when you have 'heartburn' but no chest pain it kind of gets a little harder to figure out.

i'll get back to you with the latest regimen :) ttfn! (keep in mind it's what works for me, and i eat bread and cheese and put milk in my tea etc, the dosages compensate for that and i know it's not too much due to testing at the lab)

Hi guys,

Fyi

I use A sustain-release magnesium (by Jigsaw) that I find that I can tolerate quite well even at higher dosages. Helps with spasticity a bit.

I like the sustained release (SRT) as it is less harsh on my bowel and the positive effect it has on my spasticity lasts longer. The bisGlycinate is good but it irritates my bowel and doesn't last as long. Just my experience.
