So, as some of you know, I am heading out to JH this weekend. My appointments with the doctors are on Monday, June 2.

While I am in town, I am thinking of checking out some of the long term housing options...to see what they look like, etc.

The two I have planned right now are the Tremont and The Spinnaker (through Bridge Street). Apparently they are very close to the hospital and both offer shuttle service, in case we don't want to rent a car or pay for parking for that long of a time. Both are one bedroom suites - with a pullout sofa bed in the living area. The spinnaker doesn't have range or oven burners, but the Tremont does. Both list internet access (a must!!). I wish I could find a reasonable 2 bedroom/2 bath - but that may be too much. What have you guys found?

Am wondering where some of you have stayed for your time at JH?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

~Keri

Go to my site and look at all the HiCy photo's for tremont stuff. MOST of the shuttle drivers were OK. Please read the blog from March 11th to April 4thish to get an idea of what you are getting into. Everywhere in Baltimore offers a JH rate.

If they accept you they will give you all info on places to stay. You will have three to 6 weeks to get a place to stay finalized.

There are definitely other places to stay in Baltimore for less I have heard.

Keri,

We rented an apt in Scarlett Place, it was a large two bedroom fully equipped corporate type affair, it was $4250 for the month + pet deposit etc.

Seems expensive but works out at $125 per night ish.

Jamie.

Tremont was around 1900 but it was lacking compared to what he got I am sure. Again the picture on my site.

We spent right around 3500 w/o RX's or airfare on just room, tips, and living.

Keri,

I rented a townhouse. It was nice with three bedrooms with nice appliances and a big TV.m I think it was around $3.5K/month.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I had been leaning toward the tremont mostly because they said they had full size fridge and a stove/range....whereas the one with bridgestreet (spinnaker) does not. However, it now doesn't sound so great. I guess I can always wait - I just liked the idea of being able to see ahead of time. Of course, nothing is going to be like home, such is life right now, right?

I will check out the other hotels mentioned here.

HiCy - do you know the name of the place you stayed? Also - where's your blog?!

Chris and Jamie - I have read your blogs SO many times, I can not even begin to tell you. I pretty much cry every time I read them. Of course, the last few days have been horrendous for me - as I'm on 1000mg of oral prednisone (pill form). It is hellacious, for lack of a better G-rated word. I have never felt so bad - but also somewhat "glad" as this exacerbation is yet another sign that the MS is all active and annoying! LOL

Of course, I'm annoyed with my neuro as he ignored my calls for nearly 3 days and that is why I couldn't do the IVSM - as he first called me back on Friday evening - as the holiday weekend was starting. I need to find a new neuro regardless of what happens with JH I guess. I will wait till I'm back home next week to start searching. Sigh.

On another note - Chenelle - I love the fixes on Chris' site....I think the blog is much easier to read now, if you don't mind my saying so :) I will want to start a blog asap I guess. I emailed Chris like 2 weeks ago - but no response :(

Does the tremont have internet in the hotel room? It doesn't seem like you were able to post from the room - but oh duh, just b/c I travel with a laptop at my hip doesn't mean everyone else does! (but why not?!)

Okay - enough for now - time to swallow 10 of the most awful pills I've ever experienced.

Thanks again - for all the info, support - and for tolerating my crazy long posts!

Ok I am way confused.

You saw the pics of the rooms at the Tremont? The hotel room pics are the same. The kitchen pics are the same. I stayed at the Tremont.

Where we stayed is the same room you will stay in or one just like it. I just know as we stated in the blog, it was missing some stuff that we had to go get ourselves.

I would ask Carrie for a list of the JH housing and see the prices there before going to the Tremont. I didn't and in a small way I may have gotten screwed lol!

Oh Chris, didn't mean to confuse you. I confuse myself.... I know my last email mentioned lots of seemingly unrelated stuff.

Yes, I read about your stay - didn't sound overly good but maybe I wasn't sure if in the end you liked it. It sounds very doable - and the price isn't bad at all (I think they quoted me 109/night for the 1 bedroom).... I'm wondering how the heck Chenelle cooked a steak on a range top!

I'm of course overly antsy right now - and so my "project" is to be focused on this treatment....I do that - I have to have projects to keep me occupied or I would go insane and have to deal with the fact that my QOL is pretty non-existent right now.

The JHH website only lists a few longer term options - and I've checked on those...just keeping myself busy as I said.

I don't think we'll be renting a car - at least not for the entire time...so shuttle and/or inexpensive taxis would be the way.

Keri,

In regards to the blogs if you read back far enough you will see that I am the start of this JH movement and Revimmune. I went through the treatment last September so no blog. It was pretty uneventful so the reading would have been a little boring. I watched a lot of golf, tennis and football. I will get the name of the agency that set me up with the townhouse. It was recently remodeled with a new kitchen, granite counter tops and nice appliances. I will let you know.

For housing we stayed at the Chase Street Properties. Phone 410-935-4848 It is about 10 blocks from JHH and they have a web site to view apt. Ask for Lorraine

Davis - Thanks SO much!!

How are you doing? Feeling? You're still there, right?

I'm heading out saturday night...nerves are coming...but so excited. Who'd have thunk I'd practically be begging to have chemotherapy! ha ha.

Need to sit and write my list of questions....think I've been avoiding.

I hope you are well!!!!!
