Naturally, I was particularly interested in the statins/diabetes connection. Apparently, statins raise blood sugar, increase insulin levels; chronic elevated insulin levels increase inflammation:

Simvastatin is the generic name of Zocor, I believe.

And just what an MS patient wants to hear – statins may interfere with neurological function:
