Dear Jane,
Thank you very much for your e-mail and letters to Opexa. We appreciate all the effort you and the others are doing and have done to support Tovaxin, by word of mouth, over the Internet blogs and by participating in our clinical studies. I have made sure that the others you attempted to reach (Dr. Fox, Dr. McGuire and Donna Rill) have all received your message.
We are committed to continuing the clinical development of Tovaxin and progressing it toward the market safely and effectively in order to benefit MS patients. As we have communicated, due to very difficult financial constraints the company is facing, we had to make the difficult decision to close the Phase II Open label extension trial with Tovaxin and halt many of the clinical development activities of Tovaxin, including all manufacturing. This was a very difficult decision for us but the company was not in a position financially to continue this trial and the manufacturing of the vaccine. We are working hard to establish a path forward for the company and Tovaxin and will continue to communicate publicly our progress.
Like you, we continue to believe in Tovaxin and the significant potential this therapy has to benefit MS patients. We appreciate your offer of assistance and enthusiasm. Indeed, working together can often lead to beneficial outcomes. Let us maintain contact and see how we can work together as we all believe strongly in Tovaxin.
