Peggy-- you're doing a wonderful thing by trying to help. Thanks so much for your participation and motivation! We'll look forward to your updates... certainly it will be a good, if informal, test for LDN.

Ok,

So my best friend, just heard from her dr's office today, and they are telling her that the tysabri treatments are $4000.00 a month, now what is going on with that? Also, they are wanting her to go to the pharmacy and pick it up herself, and another member advised us not to do that, because she would be financially responsible.

so she doesn't know what to do. I told her maybe it was because the insurance companies usually discount the amount, that they are starting high, then maybe it would finally come down to 1800.00 amonth, like we had been hearing.

What do you guys think?

Peggy

Flora,

I know what you mean!! This is starting to really tick me off as well.
This neurologist is actually her (6th) one, they all seem to have the same agenda, and that is what is best for THEM, not her!!

Her regular md, that she has seen for like 20 yrs, won't prescribe ldn (that is what we originally went to him for), cause he is not a specialist in ms, and didn't feel comfortable issuing it, since he didn't know enough about it. He is the one who referred her to this neurologist.

I am her ms warrior, and I won't give up, until we get her something!!

Total annual treatment costs for Tysabri used in combination with Avonex.

The recommended dose of Tysabri is 300 mg given as an IV infusion every four weeks. It must be administered by a healthcare professional.

The wholesale acquisition cost (WAC) is $1,808 for every four weeks of treatment. The AWP cost has been estimated to be about $25,000 per year, which is higher than currently available MS therapies.

Total annual treatment costs will be about $40,000 if Tysabri is used in combination with Avonex.
