Hello all, I'm a 44 year old man in good health, I've been having some odd problems lately, and thought it was worth checking in here to see what insights you might have...
Past and present neuro issues:
1. Bell's Palsy in 2009, full recovery after about 2 months.
2. TInnitus, ongoing, onset right after Palsy recovery, left ear only.
About three months ago, my left eyelid started twitching. It began on the lashline, but then about 1.5 months into it, it moved to right underneath the eyebrow. During this time, I went to see my doctor, my optometrist, and a neuro. They all said this was typically idiopathic and benign. I was also having problems with a stiff neck and pain on either side of roughly the c7-t1 area of my spine.
Then it seemed to stop for a few days, then started again, along with some light tingling in my face, forearms, wrists and back of the hands. I went back to my doctor, who ran blood tests and determined that I still had a vitamin D deficiency (it's an ongoing thing, I'm fair skinned and stay out of the sun). So, I was prescribed 50,000u of VitD, of which I have taken a month of two month's worth. She also suggested I start taking sublingual B12 and magnesium. I started the B12 over the last week, but not the magnesium, I honestly forgot all about it until this moment!
During this time period, I was x-rayed to check out the neck problem, and was told that I likely had arthritis of the neck. I was sent to an ortho, who ordered an MRI of the cervical with no contrast, and the mild arthritis was confirmed at c2-c3 and c5-6-7, but no bulging disks. During this time, the eye twitch seemed to have stopped, but I was prescribed meloxicam, zoloft, amitriptyline, and valium, all of which seemed to intensify the tingling, so I stopped taking them one by one to rule them out. Over the last week, I was off of everything and I think close to reaching the half life limit of each med, and the tingling seemed to have stopped over the last few days.
Yesterday I went out with a friend to meet a local musician we're thinking about working with, and I noticed that urinating seemed to be taking a few extra seconds to start the stream going. I had about 4 beers over about 5 hours, went home and went to sleep. I woke up with the tingling in the same places again after several days of either very minimal or no tingling at all. Of course, I have been anxious about all of this, but every doctor I've seen has never mentioned MS, and my ortho and doctor both seem to think physical therapy is what is needed. My neuro ordered a brain MRI, but he didn't seem to think I had anything to worry about based on my neurological exams, he said my strength is good, nothing he can see would worry him on my neck MRI, which had a good portion of my brain included (I've seen him twice, I think he ordered it to make me happy!) I'll be doing that Wednesday.
So, any thoughts? Thanks to anyone who chimes in!
Confused and worrying
Re: Confused and worrying
You need to get your vitamin D level up and sounds like you live up north so the sun is not an option. There is a difference between vitamin D2 and Vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is what you should be taking. I take 5000 IU a day and think that is a good place to start. Think you need to see someone like Dr. Bergman who may be able to make the adjustments you need. What the name of the disease you have is not that important. The important thing is to do what you can to help your body heal. Dr. Bergman explains it very well in his video.

Clean MRI, but I apparently have 3 retention cysts in my left maxillary sinus. I'm going to see my neuro tomorrow, wonder if he'll refer me to an ENT...
