I ran across an article about a research study in Tel Aviv which compared 2 groups of rats who ate diets with normal amouts of Magnesium from natural sources, then one group was given a new mag supplement called MgT that effectively crosses the blood brain barrier to inhibit calcium flux in brain neurons..
The study found that the synthetice mag worked on young and aging animal to enhance memory or prevent it's impairment, by increasing synapses.
I found this as a news story on PsychCentral .com having come from the American Friends Tel Aviv University, I've got no link to the report.
MgT stands for magnesium-L-theronate.
