I am new to this board, can someone please point me in the right direction for any discussions on Solu-Medrol (methylprednisolone)?

Thank you so much!

I have no idea where you would look. I was on a 5 day course on two separate occasions and it really helped me. It has been a while, but I will be happy to try and answer any questions/concerns you have.

My first experience w/ it was when I had a 500 mg/5 day dosage back in March. After being so ran down and fatigued all the time I was actually looking forward to the crack-rabbit feeling I was told I would get from this med. Never got that. I was sick the entire time I was on it and almost a week afterward (nauseous more often then not, hot flashes, sooo tired, easily irritated or on the flip side wanting to cry my eyes out, anxious, paranoid, and I had medicine head).

On Monday I am going in for round 2... only for 2 days this time... so maybe less side effects too? Has anyone else experienced any side effects while on [or after] the Solu-Medrol? I guess I am trying to figure out if the side effects lessen or if I will go through all that every time...?

Wikipedia is not especially positive about it, it may quicken short term recovery, no long term benefits.

I have had 'roids at least 20 times. It was always the same course...1,000 mg or 1 gram, for 5 days and then step down of Prednisone starting at 100 mg for 30 days. The last two times back in 2008 had no effect, though. Piece of cake. Drink plenty of fluids so you don't retain as much water.

for me it really helped with the symptoms. Side effects were minor. Sleeplesenee the first night, moon face. But I felt so much better afterward it was worth it. I didn't have the issues the second time around so, maybe the side effects do get better. I think with steroids as with MS everyone's reaction is different. Make sure you take plenty of calcium though as it robs your body and makes you more prone to osteoporosis later in life.

Not real positive for constant use, but there have been small studies that have shown regular pulsed usage may be beneficial.
