Remitting

Folks,
The definition of remitting has never made sense to me ...
To be frank, after first few years of my MS, I have never had a day where I did not feel fatigues and rigid body. My understanding of remission is that I am symptom free. In a way I have never been symptom free ever since and it looks like this is the case with most of us. At the same time, at least till 2009 I have never had loss of major function. Does that mean I was in remission from 1997-2009. If that is the case, there cannot be a bigger joke than this, since only I know how much I have suffered during these years and how much collateral damage it has caused ...
