Unpuzzling the Mystery of MS

Hi Everyone

I don't know about everyone else but I constantly have thoughts running through my head about the how MS is triggered and also what agrivates it in the body.

I have these thoughts at the moment and just wanted some feedback as the accuracy of them.

It started with Didnnan's post 24/2/05 regarding Zonulin - the protein found in the Intestines.

This is the link to the article:-

[/quote]Dr. Fasano’s group also discovered that zonulin is produced in very large amounts in people who have autoimmune disorders such as diabetes, celiac disease, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid art

Now I was wondering if the reason that (NAC) N-acetyl-L-cysteine was working for MS people is that its a powerful Anti-oxident (from what I understand) and maybe it would help keep toxins and waste getting into the immune system by way of the bowel.

Whether the Zonulin levels are high in people with MS because of our genic make-up who knows but I thought maybe the NAC would help keep the cross over of harmful waste produce from the body to the immune system. Is this why we have have so called relapses because the immune system gets infected and then goes on a mission to seek and destroy?

Also I have been a believer that the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) or some other virus's is the reason or part of the reason for MS.
Quite a while back I was reading up on some research that found that the T cells died first and then the immune system went in to mop up the damage with MS NOT the immune system doing the damage and then the cells died - apparently this was quite controversal at the time? The question was that what was killing the cells in the first olace. My thoughts are that maybe its the so called viruses that still exist in our bodies? Why are some people recovering from taking Antibiotics huh?

Anyway in short the above are I guess a coupld of ideas but some times I try to nut it out in lamin terms. :? I think I am trying to put my own puzzle together...

Has anyone else got thoughts on these things? I could be barking up the wrong tree or trees on these ones? 8O
