Hi all, my fiance has been diagnosed with ms although we dont know if its rrms, ppms or spms yet, symptoms started about 5 weeks ago individual symptoms come and go over the space of a few days or a week but for the past 5 days or so my fiance has been sleeping an extraordinary amount she seems to have a good nights sleep of maybe 8 to 10 hours takes her a while to wake up properly but then she is good for about 3 to 4 hours when she literally goes out like a light again for 1 to 3 hours she will then wake up for maybe an hour or 2 then its lights out time again for up to 3 hours with periods of semi awakeness she then tends to wake up around the 8.30/9pm mark for maybe an hour an a half then its off to bed again.

Im pretty worried we are due to see the neuro next week after several agonising weeks wait (NHS is great .. not) she also has brain fog, memory is aweful to say the least and speech and thought processes are severely affected she also cannot walk at all by herself and also complains of itching all over.

Alot of the original symptoms have dissapeared over the past few weeks the double vision, blurred vision, ms hug, numb patches and leg hypersensitivity/pain have virtually all gone.

Is this oversleeping and extreme tiredness/fatigue normal with ms ? ive read all about the extreme fatigue and have read some reports of hypersomnia has anyone on here experienced this and to what extent ?

Yeah the fatigue is normal. Sounds like she is may be having a relapse but yes omega what you are describing is very typical of MS. Good luck!

i slept a lot in the first month or two after my dx attack.

if you are interested in nutritional management i can help you there. others have a lot of expertise in other aspects of treatment.

my signature links are a good starting point for reading about nutrition. i don't agree with everything in the ms regimens and diets out there, but you need a good starting point nonetheless.

i'm not sure exactly how many of our members are supporters of people with ms, but there are a lot. good for all of you, for being here!

yeah if she is this early in the disease process then I agree that she should look into nutritional options and get an intercellular nutritional panel asap before she becomes deeper and deeper into a chronic state.
