Possibly MS??

I was in a car accident on Friday and they did a CT of my neck to check for trauma but what they found was sclerosis on C1 anterior arch.

Could this be MS?? I have a doc appointment with my primary care but I couldn't get in until the 22nd and I am freaking out a little bit. What can cause this? I keep trying to find information on sclerosis of the spine but all that comes up is info on MS.

Should I be seeing a different type of doc for this? I have a PPO so I can go to whoever I need to without a referral.

Any insight you could give would be appreciated.

I'm not a doctor or an expert by any means, but if it is anything, I think it COULD be CIS, Clinically Isolated Syndrome. Neurologists use pretty strict criteria to diagnose someone with MS and if this is the one and only indication of MS that you've ever had, it is likely CIS, if anything. Neurologists are the docs who work with MS so if you wanted to be very proactive and get some peace of mind, you could go see a neuro before your PCP if you can get in to see one.

Good luck! I hope it's nothing.

It might have been caused by the accident....I think inflammation can become scar tissue...so it is probably related to that.

Do you have any MS symptoms? Did you have any before the accident?

Thank you for your replies.

In July I went to the ER for an episode of palpitations, labored breathing, and I almost blacked out. They ran a D-dimer and it came back at 4.56, I was subsequently hospitalized but no clot was found.

Last Wednesday, I went to the ER again this time I was having pain in my right leg for a couple of days and then it began to feel as if it were burning and it was radiating heat. Again D-dimer ran, 3.86 but no clot.

The next morning I woke up and my last two fingers on my right hand were numb for 3 hours and a large bruise appeared on my right ankle over the course of the day (I know I did not injure myself). I talked with my primary care and she said to come in to talk about everything but then I was in the car accident and the CT was preformed that found the sclerosis.

Thanks again for any help you can give.

You might want to get checked for clotting disorders: Hughes syndrome is one of them that mimicks MS.
