I am still new to MS. My tailbone suddenly started hurting and I DID NOT fall or injure it any way whatsoever...can flare-ups present themselves as a bruised, painful sensation like that? I'm sure I just sat down weird for a while without realizing it and aggravated it, but now I am curious to know if that can be a flare-up.

Anytime I have a weird unexplainable sensation i think, "Flare-up. NO!!!!!" I hope that will eventually go away as I learn to read my body but right now I am terrified to have another flare-up.

From what I have read it doesn't seem that those types of sensations are flare-up symptoms but I know MS is one strange cookie. Thanks for your thoughts :)

Things like that come and go with MS. Dosen't sound like a flare-up to me. Sounds like a pain in the butt though!

Not a ridiculous question at all!
You probably did sit down weird, or something. But honestly, I think just about any symptom is possible with MS. I think we all worry, every time we feel a strange sensation or pain. At least I still do, and I was diagnosed in 2001! And I hate it when my worrying is right on the money!

Hopefully it's just an annoying, transient feeling. Let's just assume it is!

I laughed out loud at my desk when I read this. A pain in the butt indeed! :)

Thanks for your responses everyone, at least I know I am not alone in my worrying about weird symptoms. It hasn't gotten worse so that's a good thing. I'm gonna go with the "not a flare up" option and try to ignore it.

Glad it hasn't gotten worse! Just a pain in the butt, like Scorpion said--that's works for me!

Sounds like a pilonidal cyst. Is it red and swollen?

Actually, no. There is no visual evidence whatsoever that anything is wrong.
