more steroid needed?

I am new to this forum and DX with ms about 3 years ago. Currently, having sensation, numbness problems from my waist down. My feet feel like they are petrifying. My neuro prescribed prednisone 500mg for four days but has had no effect. Also prescribed clonazepam for the burning symptoms. Has anyone out there had this? Should I be asking for a stronger steroid? I am concerned about treating the symptoms rather than trying to restore feeling. The clonazepam makes me even more drowsy than neurontin did and I don't want to be a pain free zombie. I did have IV Solumedrol for Optic Neuritis about 2 years ago and then tapered with prednizone. I don't know if Solumedraol works for the limbs or not....Appreciate any comments.

Dear Cgarnhart, welcome to the forum! This is the best place for better understanding the disease and to see treatment options.

All the treatments currently available are not specific (except for the antibiotics), since the cause of MS is not understood. Steroids are for exacerbations. It is hard to predict if the higher dose would work, but you should certainly talk to the doctor and tell him you did not respond.
