Evacuating Rita with MS

We left Houston at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday and finally arrived in Boerne, TX (about 200 miles) at 2:00 a.m. Friday morning. We had our family (my husband, me, and 2 teenagers) as well as our two cats in the van and we were pulling our 21-ft trailer behind. It was so hot on Thursday and we were going soooo slow or not at all that we couldn't run the AC. My kids would run back to the trailer and get ice and my daughter, who gets the Clara Barton award, would put ice over my face and arms and pour ice water over my head and down my back. She saved my life I feel--it was so hot. Luckily we didn't run out of gas--we finally found some in New Braunfels. We had reservations at an RV park in Boerne which is very nice. We don't know when we'll head back to Houston--we have to make sure there will be gas when we get back. I'm so thankful for my family. I'm definitely blessed! But I have to say that MS and heat tolerance is a real booger in this situation!
