Who has Vitiligo with their MS ? I have it with my Lyme

Interesting as I was doing some research today and found many links that link MS and Vitiligo together as both being Autoimmune.

I've been trying to make this connection between chronic illness and Lyme for the longest time as the symptoms overlap so much.

So, in my case, the Vitiligo is cause by either and Autoimmune condition or from the Lyme. I was always sold on Autoimmune, but my recent connections are now making me think otherwise.

Funny thing in my case is that while I was treating my Lyme, I began to repigment on my hands which is supposedly the hardest place to repigment with UVB, PUVA treatment, and I've done none.

I'm curious how many here have Vitiligo. As an RN, I can only Theorize and nothing more. I don't have powers to conduct clinical trials etc. So, reading and polling are my 2 major sources of my research.

Oh well, food for more thought.......

Hi, I was just diagnosed with MS yesterday after months of waiting for an answer. They still do not know for 100% sure that it is MS, but they think so because I also have vitiligo- this showed up about two years ago. Accompanying this was loss of concentration and memory. I always thought this was due to stress (and probably some of it was). This past June I became numb on my whole right side, with ringing in my right ear along with weakness. This might be a stupid question- since I am not yes "educated" in the ways of MS and its treatment- but, I am supposed to start the drug Avonex soon- and I'm wondering if this might help or hurt the vitiligo? I have it all over my body now practically-I guess it is just hopeful thinking that I might be killing two birds with one stone in a sense, if the drug for MS might also distract the antibodies from killing my melanin cells? Any ideas on this would be helpful.

with the common thread being zinc which is low in both vitiligo and ms

Zinc and its status in some dermatologic diseases--a statistical assessment
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3442079
"Significant low blood-levels of zinc were only proved in vitiligo..."

aim for 18.2 umol/L serum zinc. the 'normal' range is 11.5-18.5 umol/L.

most ms patients sit in the lower end of the range (with links to associated uric acid and vit D3 problems)

i used to get lab results indicating candida infection, but at the time i was zinc deficient.

now i have corrected the zinc problem, and there are no more candida findings.

lymenurse,

Still check out the Candida link though, dont be put off looking in to it, yeah!

The medical profession keep sweeping it under the carpet and have done for years. Big mistake in my opinion.

I'd never heard of vitiligo before but climate different in uk.

As pointed out by Teresa Dr. Coimbra has ' been there, done that'. He has cured both psoriasis and viglio using hi dose vitamin D along with MS and a host of other autoimmune conditions.

Excellent study well worth the read:

What does that mean 'curing' vitaligo? Does the pigment that has been gone for many decades, suddenly come back? Like a person who has been deaf many years suddenly being able to hear? So Michael Jackson would not have needed the glove anymore?

I think many people who have got used to it would just feel weird. Not at all like what I would feel if I suddenly could walk.

More like if Donald Trump suddenly needed a haircut.
