Tryptophan trial

The following article claims that a human trial of Tryptophan is being planned (given how MS researchers work we're probably looking at 2-3 years before any results).

The quote I love is: "There are many drugs tested in this mouse model that never pan out. But it's certainly worth testing."

Now it might just be me, but even though my brain is gradually shrinking (the technical term is atrophy), I still have reasonable judgment, and must conclude that the mouse model of MS is a waste of ....ing time. Why can't the super brainy MS researchers / neurologists also work this out? Yet one only has to look at the research that is being funded to see that they are testing their latest theories on the mouse model. As I understand it they can actually cure the mouse model of MS!

I've always thought that MS was a job creation scheme for useless researchers and neurology is a specialism created for useless doctors. Why do the need a model of MS when in the US alone there are 400,000 with the real thing - it's hardly rare?

As the end of another year approaches one really has to wonder what progress has been made in understanding this disease. As usually various theories have been dreamt up - but no new treatments have been approved. And they wonder why we are depressed!

Well if I thought anger would help I guess we could get them to test it on the mice. I'm with you in theory as I'm sure John (hubby) is a tad smarter than a mouse but he does like cheese.
