Insurance

Hello all,

I left my job on July 4th, and am covered with affordable contribution on my end until dec 31st. After that I can do COBRA for a while..have NO way to pay though.
I'm in the process of SSDI application, so medicare will kick in 24 months after acceptance into that.

Does anyone here have creative ways to deal with the puzzle? Obamacare is a joke for MS folks past our prime...I'm 55 ish. What do you do?

I thought I had it figured with a family member's company, but as it turns out he found an incredible bitch to marry, and she 'disagrees' with the plan. (how badly are we allowed to curse on this site? I feel a torrent coming on...)

Anyway, I even asked my ex husband to marry me..he's a teacher, and has great coverage. talk about a desperation move. The scary part of that is that he has an incredible amount of debt..horrific really. How do I get around assuming any of that? IE, he's got a house wirth about 150 that he owes 425 on...yikes!

Any/all advice welcome..

I can probably get some form of public aid, but I don't know of any providers that will take P.A. patients.

That's the thing..obamacare does NOT work. There's the fine print that says that if you are over 52 and have a pre existing condition, no insurance for you!

I'll just have to hide, and not get sick...

yes, medicaid is there for the 'gap' time of about 2 years until medicare kicks in, I am just so scared of no insurance, no docs, going to ers for med refills. I had hoped that a family member was going to fill in the gap and help me thru, I have 2 millionaire brothers who own their own companies, I hoped they would put me on their books for cleaning their mansions and stuff, apparently it doesn't work out for their girlfriends ( can i curse) now?

It just makes me sad that I'm gonna be in state care for the rest of my life, when I could have help so easily. I'm whining. sorry to use this site for this. I just thought there would be asomeone that found a way around this mess.

Does your local county have any community health care centers available? My county has these and they provide a sliding fee scale for low income folks. Prescriptions are also inexpensive. It was just $4 the last time I needed antibiotics.

Hi. I had to wait my 2 years and finally was put on Medicare this past July. During my waiting period I was not able to go on Medicaid because I made too much money on disability. The only thing I could do was drop my doctor and pray. It was a worrisome wait but I made it through to the other side. Good luck to you.
