Ya Im sure that has something to do with it, I was just trying to get a feel of what people meant when they say "Muscle Weakness" when related to MS. but it seems like an MS related Muscle Weakness would probably get worse as the day goes on?

i would say that ms related muscle weakness is probably different for everyone and for each patient it could vary daily. when i had muscle weakness it was from b12 deficiency that was on my file prior to the ms diagnosis. i didn't really notice it except for example i had no squeeze power in my hands, so trying to get shampoo out of a bottle involved pushing on it with two opposed hands. you clearly need a third hand for a successful process here, so i ended up getting my hair washed at a nearby salon for a while :S hehe

Well....I wouldn't really say they were weak, because Im still able to run and bike in the morning and go up stairs and such without any problem. I did a little stretch this morning and it seemed to help alot.....so maybe sitting all day is making my muscles get "used" to one position. Because I noticed when I was stretching this morning that going too far would be pretty painful.

Hi Jimmylegs

I take 10000 iu's of D3 everyday. When I take the D3 I have 500mg Calcium and 835mg of Magnesium Oxide which converts to 500mg of elemental magnesium. I was also taking 300 mg magnesium at a different time.
From what I read on another post I should be upping my calcium by a little.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

hey again :)

my gosh, how on earth do you deal with 800mg of magnesium from magnesium OXIDE?? i'd be in diapers for sure.

very good to hear that you are timing things right. try to find a more absorbable form of mag, if you can - like glycinate.

due to the spasticity issue, you might not need to add more calcium to your mix. 2 calcium to 1 magnesium is a really common ratio.
a 1:1 ratio is good if you have muscle soreness or stiffness.

do you take zinc daily too?

finally, have you tested your serum d3 levels recently?

there im done for the moment ;)

Just stopped the magnesium today. Just figured I had the stomach flu, but I will be looking at a different form I think.

I've been on the 10,000 mg of D3 since May and I get retested in November. Started Zinc 20 mg with 1 mg of copper and beta carotene.

Do you have a local place that you get your supplements from?

yea, do! oxide has the highest amount of elemental magnesium but it is the least soluble and you can't absorb it properly when it's zooming through that fast. try for the glycinate form. it will do you much more good.

my current brand is kirkman, but i don't know where it came from exactly because my mum picked it up somewhere.

the zinc sounds great. well done on the copper component.

retests in november sound great. at 10,000IU/d, don't be surprised if you end up testing high once you get the right mix of cal mag and zinc.

the d3 level needs to stay under 250nmol/L so you may want to think about dropping to 5,000IU/d now that you've added a zinc supplement too.

and lastly, i usually get supplements at places like 'nutrition house', or any organic grocery with a wide variety of nutritional supplements.

hope that helps!

JL :)

Hi,
I have muscle weakness on my right side. My rt leg is MSed up. When I walk it feels like there's a 100lb weight attached to it. The farther and longer I walk each step it gets more difficult to lift up my foot to put it front of the other. A short walk feels like miles and when I get to where I'm going I need to sit and rest my leg. Sometimes when I lift my leg to take a step my foot doesn't stay stright to follow though with the step while walking. My foot musle wears out so that when I take a step my foot drops(Foot Drop) because the foot muscle is to weak hold my foot in the propper walking position. Almost dragging my foot because my leg is so weak. It becomes difficult & exhusting to drag that leg around. At that point is when It's time to take a rest. Then I start it Alll Over again.....
