Scooters-help!!!!!!

I live in Winnipeg and I really could use some help in finding a scooter that will work for me. I've been looking for 8 months now. I'm tired of staying home most of the time because of my mobility issues with walking.

My problem is, because of MS, I am not able to sit with my left leg bent when sitting(hurts too much). I need to have it extended out, resting foot on ground(bottom of scooter).

I've gone to 8 scooter stores in Winnipeg and none of the scooters would work for me. They tell me good luck, you will never find one. The thing is, I've seen people before on scooters with a wider, longer bottoms.

I need a scooter with a long, and wide enough bottom so I can have my left leg straight out, resting on the floor of scooter.

I am a short person, 5 feet, so it's not like I have long legs or anything.

Scooters I have sat on and extended my left leg out, the bottom of the scooter didn't have enough floor space to it, so my leg could rest on it. The console's were so wide, no room to put my foot.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about and have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have the money to buy a scooter, new or used, just where to get it?????

Thanks soooooo much for any help, ideas.....

I have a portable scooter - it has made lots of activities possible that weren't possible before. It comes to pieces and goes in the car boot. I just park, and put it together (it literally takes 30 seconds) and off I go. I could stretch my legs out if I wanted, and rest on the floor.
I know that the situation is different in Australia. It's a 50km round trip to get a carton of milk, and a 6hour round trip to Perth to the nearest shopping centre (about 520km) only a portable scooter would be any use to me.
If you just google 'scooter', you will see what is available. They have all their specs. Sometimes you can even buy one on the internet, and it will arrive in the post.
Good luck!

I live in the UK and have a heavy duty scooter called the Supersport, by TGA http://www.tgamobility.co.uk/product/supersport

It has a long wheelbase (if requested, they do two types) which I'm sure would give you that leg room. I think they do sell overseas so might be worth contacting them or alternatively google TGA supersport and see if you can get it in the States. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

I am 5'5" and I tested my scooter this weekend for you. I have a Pride Celebrity X and it has an adjustable seat and steering. I moved the seat all the way back and I had plenty of room to sit with my leg extended straight out. There isn't a very wide place for your foot next to the steering but my foot stayed on just fine.
