I saw this guy, whose name is Sri H G Bhat, on the net and allegedly based on his protocol some improvements were achieved in MS patients. Anyone has any experince in this field?
thx
Hi Liberation. I have no experience with this, but in case you don't get much response today (posters come and go) you could try putting "ayurvedic" into a TIMS site search here. I just got 2 pages full of posts when I searched for it just now.

Good luck!

Hi,

My wife is an RPMS patient. We have tried all kinds treatment including Siddha, Ayurvedic, Homoeopathy in addition to Betaferon for 2 years Rebiff for 6 months And finally on Copaxone for the last 3 years.

In Homoeopathy we went to dr Ramakrishnan His link is provided below
http://www.homoeotimes.com/jan05/html/interview.htm but after 4 months it only made the condition worse by increasing the lesions

She is taking siddha medicines for the last 3 years both orally & also applying oil to reduce the pain but there is no improvment.

She has aslo tried Ayurvedic oil massages to help control pain but that aslo has not proved helpful. Below is the link where we are trying Ayurvedic medicine

Hope this info is useful.

PS . Used to live in USA but moved back to Chennai, India as my wife was diagonised with MS

Thanks,
Gopi

Hi All,

I can tell you from observation that MS can be cured if treated within a short time (like 1 year) frame of the onset of the disease. I have been through the MS journey for few years now. A friend of mine has been completely cured of the symptoms. She took 3 months of treatment at a genuine place in India. My close family member had the same treatment but his recovery has been very slow. But remarkable given that he his complications started 8 years ago. But I am optimistic that he will be cured.

One thing for sure is that Ayurveda will help stop the progression of the disease. That is what the Dr aims at. Then they will look for recovering lost abilities. Which is excellent given what other treatments have to offer.

After pouring through 1000s of pages in web and text books I gather that the key to cure is in this routine:
1. As much as Pranayama as possible everyday - starting with 5 minutes and extending it to half an hour as you can handle (is realistic given the benefits).
search for "Baba Ramdev -Yoga Science, Pranayam & Yoga Asanas" in you tube

2. Meditation everyday -

search for "Meditation with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar"

3. Strict Diet - No sour food, chilly hot food, no additives/preservatives etc only natural cooked food, less fruits and no junk, good amount of carbs and little cooked veggies, sensible snacks. This list you have to get from your doctor but "please do not follow any web page" because they all have contradictory list of allowed items quoting ayurveda.

4. Ayurvedic treatment - Every doctor has their own style.

The common treatment -
assessment of your individual body type. based on that the rest are decised.
Technique for cleansing the toxins from body - panchakarma
Treatment
Recuperation - rest
Followup medicine

see http://www.girijasanjeevani.com/casestudies.htm

5. Last but not least but the ultimate - do some soul search - There is a very subtle but yet powerful technique called Sudarshan Kriya taught. This is very beneficial to each cell of our body and at various levels.
http://www.artofliving.org/global/home

Sahaj samadhi meditation taught at the artofliving is ultimate. (This is not an advert. AOL is in 151 countries with millions of people practicing this.)

Gopi, What are the medicines given for the condition. I thought that siddha as powerful as Ayurveda. I didnt move forward as I couldnt find a good practitioner/advice.

All the best.

While I understand that this post is related to Ayurvedic medicines, please allow me to include Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) in the discussion. I have heard that TCM Ping Fu Tang had been clinically tested for MS and observed to have good results. Any friend from far East, please comment.

Making a statement like this is kind of irresponsible, especially on a MS forum. Nobody knows what even causes MS at this time so how can you say the disease can be cured?! Over the years different therapies have been tried on MS and some patients' symptoms have been relieved by them. MS sufferers can go years without showing any outward effects of the disease only to see it return much later. To say that they are cured is simply wrong.

Your ideas and opinions are welcomed but please don't try and tell the readers here that you know how to "cure" MS.

This year my son developed many symptoms like tremors and walking disability etc since he didnt follow any medication or treatment advice. Using mobile phones for long hours. Eating junk etc etc. Typical teenager stuff.
In 3 months time all his symptoms were reversed. Thanks to the efficient treatment using a form of Acupuncture. We did follow simple ayurvedic diet and simple medicines. Since it wont be suitable for everybody I am avoiding discussing it here.

But from bed ridden to back to school was achieved in few days. Very impressed and thankful to God and his acupuncturist.

I am writing this so that those who have lost hope can remain hopeful. It is not incurable. We just need to help our body to regain its balance.

Happy to share my knowledge if anybody needs pointers.

God bless.

a cautionary note

Symptomatic liver injury (hepatotoxicity) associated with administration of complementary and alternative products (Ayurveda-AP-Mag Capsules) in a beta-interferon treated multiple sclerosis patient (2011)
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs ... 11.03373.x

Sir,
We report a case of hepatotoxicity (elevated biochemical liver enzymes) suspected to be associated with supplementation of Ayurveda-AP Mag (Ayush Herbs, Redmond, WA, USA) (containing Azadirachta indica and Momoridica charantia), in a patient with relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) who was also treated with beta-interferon.
...
She had started her first disease-modifying therapy, beta-interferon-1a (Avonex 30 mcg/wk intra-muscular; Biogen Idec, Cambridge, MA, USA) 6 years previously and had tolerated drug well.
...
After consulting with a 'naturopathic doctor' for her MS, she started taking a mixture of complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs), including: Human Micro Flora (HMF) Powder, Ayurveda-AP Mag Capsules (Ayush Herbs), Ayurveda-Ashwagandha Capsules (Ayush Herbs), AyurvedaLivit 2 Tablets (Ayush Herbs), Thorne research-L-Glutamine Dietary Supplement Capsules (Thorne Research, Sandpoint, ID, USA) and Thorne Research MediClear-Multi VitaminMineral Supplement (Thorne Research).
Prior to taking these CAMs, her biochemical liver test results were unremarkable (within normal range). ...
One month after initiation of the multiple CAMs products, she presented with symptoms of pruritus, fatigue, feelings of malaise, and gastrointestinal symptoms.
Her liver panel was:
...
ALT = 886 (N < 50 U/l; 18 times the upper normal limit);
AST = 406 (N < 35 U/l; 11 times the upper normal limit).
She was advised to discontinue both beta-interferon and the CAMs. Her liver panel was repeated 4 days later; results were similar, and ALT had risen a little further
to 19 times the upper normal limit. Three weeks later, her liver laboratory values were repeated; all had returned to below the upper normal limit.
...
Each CAM product was examined for its potential to cause hepatotoxicity. Two ingredients in the Ayurveda-AP-Mag capsules were associated with liver injury: Azadirachta indica and Momoridica charantia. The former has been used in pesticides and was associated with hepatotoxic effects in animals and humans (including jaundice) [1,2]. Administration of Momoridica charantia has been associated with elevated biochemical liver test results (GGT and AP) in animal studies [3,4].
...
Based on the limited published literature, the most likely causative agent(s) appear to be Momoridica charantia and Azadirachta indica [1–4], although few studies in humans could be found. Given the potential seriousness of the adverse event, the patient was advised not to re-challenge.
Our patient was also exposed to beta-interferon, which has an established association with liver injury [5]. However, as she had tolerated beta-interferon well for the previous 6 years, this appeared unlikely as the direct causative agent. We cannot rule out that a beta-interferon-CAM interaction precipitated the adverse event. Viral serology for hepatitis A, B, and C were negative, as were autoimmune and the other metabolic markers tested; these, coupled with the presenting clinical features, excluded an autoimmune-related hepatic event.
...
Naturopathic doctors (NDs) in British Columbia have their own regulating body and licensing exams. We were unable to verify whether this patient consulted a registered practitioner.

another n=1:

Effect of Ayurvedic and Panchakarma Treatment in Asthi Majja Gata Vata (Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis): A Case Study (2018)
http://jahm.in/index.php/JAHM/article/view/712

Multiple sclerosis is condition arising as sequel of demyelination of nervous tissue. It is recurring or chronically progressive leading to loss of sensory and motor functions. With immunosuppressant or cortico-steroids as only available treatment in modern sciences, ayurveda can be ray of hope. A 35 years old female was suffering from pain, burning, stiffness and complete weakness (MPG zero grade) in lumbar region and both lower extremities along with loss of sensation, loss of bowel-bladder control for 18 months. She was diagnosed case of multiple sclerosis (Kurtzke disability grade eight). MRI of brain showed small periventricular focus of demyelination in right corona radiata. Patient was diagnosed as a case of asthi-majja gata vata. Patient received ayurvedic treatment – mahayogaraja guggulu (500 mg) with ashwagandharishta (30 ml) twice daily, powders of shatavari and ashwagandha (each 5 gm) twice daily with milk and chandra-prabha-vati (500 mg) twice daily before food. Patient received sarvanga abhyanga with bala-taila and shali-shashtika-pinda sweda. Patient received matra basti with rasnadi taila (25 sittings), followed by course of bruhatyadi-yapana basti (16 sittings). Patient received treatment from August 2003 to December 2003. Patient showed significant improvement in pain, weakness and power loss. Muscle power improved from zero grade to third grade in both lower extremities. Initially patient could not stand due to weakness while after treatment she could walk with walker. Kurtzke disability scale stage improved from eight to six. Ayurvedic treatment is useful in severely debilitating conditions such as multiple sclerosis.
