Unfortunately, the above study doesn't appear to address the Western US and the distribution of the western blacklegged tick (Ixodes pacificus) which can also cause Lyme.

I found this article and thought I'd post here. Haven't heard anymore about Lyme being sexually transmitted even though this article was published in 2001.
