Wow, 6 weeks is a long time to wait for an MRI. I just had a bout with what wound up being optic neuritis last week and was immediately sent to Duke University Hospital to see a neuro opthamologist who had the MRI done through the ER. I was then admitted for 3 days to have IV steroid treatments and also had an MRI on my spine, a lumbar puncture and blood work. My follow up isn't until 3/13, but they did all of the tests right away and got my eye under control. Won't know if I have MS until the results of the lumbar puncture come back from the Mayo Clinic, but it's looking like they are leaning that way. I'd see if you can get the MRI sooner, IMO.
