Symptom Question

For 11 weeks now, I have been constantly dizzy. I have been seeing an ENT, because it seems to be related to my inner ear. Noise makes the dizziness unbearably worse, immideately. They have referred me to another specialist. I am waiting on that appointment and insurance to continue to work on figuring this out.

Meanwhile, I have been told it may be Superior Canal Dehissence Syndrome, MS, or a Tumor, though a tumor is extremely unlikely since I have no hearing loss.

My question for all of you is, is it possible for MS to cause (constant) dizziness that gets worse with noise or movement?

My second question relates to something my mom brought up. For the last 3 or so years, my body hurts (not an ache, an actual pain, though it may start out as an ache in my back and spread) if I work "too hard" or if I don't get enough sleep. It was like "turning a corner" when this started... before I was fine and could work as hard as I wanted, then I couldn't. (Actually, it was 4-6 weeks of constant pain before I discovered the cause. I was in the process of getting a Dr's appointment then, but cancelled when I discovered if I rested more it would go away.)

Does this sound like a symptom of MS? This is the symptom that makes the the most nervous. I read the wikipedia article on MS, just to familiarize myself with the symptoms after my Dr mentioned it as a possibility, and that one jumped out at me because of the pain I experience when I over-do it. (Which would NOT have been overdoing it before.)

The other thing that has developed in the last few weeks is when I am feeling terrible from the dizziness (or whatever it is) I start shaking. I brushed it off at first, thinking that my body was getting weak after sitting around for the past 11 weeks, incapacitated. But I soon discovered I was fine most of the time, it was just when I was feeling worse that I start to shake. On "good" days I think I still don't shake at all. I can fold 1/4 of a load of laundry, or move around the kitchen for a few minutes and be okay until the dizziness starts to get worse, but on bad days when I'm feeling terrible I shake. Somehow it is related to feeling bad.

I could give you a list of symptoms, if that would help (One of the hardest things is not being able to think clearly, one of the strangest is that hearing my own voice bothers me the most), but I am mostly just trying to get a feel from real people if this really "might" be MS or not. I've been waiting 11 weeks, and I have another 4 weeks to wait until I see a new Dr., so while waiting I thought I'd try to get a feel for what it might be.

ANYTHING you have to offer me would be much appreciated!

Since getting so sick, my eyes have been opened to what it is to suffer from something that is incapacitating. I appreciate all of you who have been living with MS (and other people who have been suffering with other things, like SCDS!) and I hope for the best for all of you.

mama2six, welcome to the forum! i can give you the potential nutritional aspects of the picture.

yes a certain percentage of ms patients experience dizziness/vertigo but not all.

as for the pain and fatigue, my mind jumps to vit d3 and magnesium status.
other magnesium issues: do you have headaches, menstrual cramping, any muscle tics or stiffness, anxiety?

for the cognitive issues i'm thinking zinc. there's a zinc connection to d3 issues too.

all these nutrients are off in ms patients and a few of us here work on them more or less rigorously.

it's extremely common for people to have poor zinc and magnesium status, and those two problems combined help contribute to poor D3 status.

if those 6 mentioned in your user name are all your own biological children, that waves a big red zinc flag since childbearing is such a drain on maternal zinc stores.

if your doc will order bloodwork, tests for serum zinc, magnesium, and 25(OH)vitaminD3 could be useful.

again, welcome to TIMS!
