Hi there, everyone. First of all I want to say thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and help me. I am so scared and anxious. I first have to say that I have anxiety. I had what I think was a big panic attack about 2 months ago and it has been downhill since then. I have a large amount of stress in my life too. So, here goes. After my panic attack, I felt like one side of my chin was heavier than the other...that's it. It made me scared and I worried about it too much so I got a prescription for Zoloft. When I moved up to 50mg (the does I was prescribed) I started having "icy-hot" feeling all over my body...and shakiness. A couple of days later the icy-hot sensation ended. My heavy face feeling even ended. But the shaking continued and I felt hot a lot...like hot flashes. Ok, so, I also have sub-clinical hyperthyroidism and one of the symptoms is shakiness...so we decided to taper off the zoloft to see if the shakiness was from it or the thyroid. I tapered to 25 mg and it was soon after that when I got my last bout of symptoms...heaviness in my whole body. Arms, legs, head. on both sides. I am still shaky and ALL of my muscles just feel sooo weak...like I can't hold up my spine very well. I am having panic attacks a lot in the last week too. I have since started another anxiety med and a thyroid med. Anyway, I just wondered if you all thought this could all be MS? I just feel like my entire body is so heavy and I am weak and shaky everywhere. I have also woken up to both feet being asleep or both arms being asleep. Is MS like this? I am SO scared. I have googled and googled and I am wondering if I am perhaps causing some of the symptoms myself? Thank you so much for your responses.

also check out this study:

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and anxiety disorders
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19906519

basically says the research is still pending but think about a good clean extra strength fish oil pill.

Welcome to our community, zooboo. MS can come with any of MANY different symptoms; so you could have MS or another possible condition. You need to find a doctor you can partner with, a doctor who enjoys being a "disease detective." With a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism, you may have an endocrinologist willing to work with you--if you have a lot of stress in your life, your cortisol can be high, and an endocrinologist can measure this. If you feel the problem is in your muscles, find an internist or D.O. or someone who specializes in the muscles. You know your own body best; if you think there is a problem, there probably is.

oh yes and re hyperthyroidism, that would mean low magnesium too, so that makes it an even better idea to take an epsom salts bath per that other topic i linked to above, and investigate possibilities for testing. will have a hunt around for any other things to address hyperthyroidism.
