ok so this is more general, but it goes to how people might end up predisposed to ms from birth

maternal zinc deficiency and birth defects
http://www.thisisms.com/forum/regimens- ... ml#p195460
excerpts...
"Almost all of the full-term fetuses produced under such conditions showed gross congenital malformations encompassing a wide variety of organ systems, including skeletal, brain, eye, heart, lung, and urogenital defects"

"Special attention was given to malformations of the central nervous system and to tissue anomalies not recognizable by gross inspection of the fetuses"

"In the course of prenatal zinc deficiency experiments, congenital hydrocephalus was frequently encountered ... various types of aqueduct stenosis or obliteration"

"Maternal zinc status: a determination of central nervous system malformation"

"Risk of diseases of metabolism such as atherosclerosis and adult onset diabetes mellitus is increased by fetal malnutrition. Deficiencies of micronutrients essential for methylation are believed to contribute to the phenomenon in part through epigenetic abnormalities. Zinc is one of the nutrients essential for the epigenome. Because the worldwide prevalence of zinc deficiency is at least 20% (JL: by 'normal' standards), fetal zinc deficiency is common. We suggest fetal zinc deficiency contributes to the pathogenesis of metabolic diseases in adults. ... We suspect that zinc deficiency is a far greater human health problem than is generally recognized."

also,

http://www.thisisms.com/forum/regimens- ... ml#p191748

"is it just me, or does this look like each individual's seed zinc fund for project life. environment/diet determines whether the account is accruing interest or being depleted, and when a given individual drains the account, that's when their personal wheels start to come off all the zinc-dependent enzymes, with consequences for regulation of genetic expression. may i say, bam.

Zinc content and distribution in the newborn liver
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8856577
The mean zinc concentration in the newborn liver was 639 micrograms/g of dry tissue (dt). A striking interindividual variability in zinc liver stores was observed; the hepatic concentration of the metal ranged from 300 to 1,400 micrograms/g dt."

With all these ILs, I get a bit the feeling of a deja vu.
on how mankind looked at the universe prior to Johannes Kepler.
to describe the movement of planets around the earth by many superimposed concentric circles.
then Kepler came and showed they were circling around the Sun.
and many things became very simple..

perhaps here we should simplify as well,
understand the various mechanisms of vitamin D in the body,
understand that different concepts are underlying, each having a vit D aspect, and how they work for cellular nutrition, for cellular growth, for stabilising gut flora, etc...
and then, as one would look at this universe - our own micro-cosmos - in a different way (taking it more from a meta level and how our hormones work for cellular nutrition), perhaps the astronomical complexity could be reduced at that time and the difference between men and women explained in simple terms ...

the other thread on 'a new concept for MS' is an attempt to do just that.

i also find it interesting how the ability to properly utilize vitamin d3 depends on adequate zinc status.

In general these posts ignore what I have written and get bogged down in minor details (Vit D, Zinc etc). The auto-immune response is secondary to the true cause of MS, a blood reflux which injures the brain and spinal cord. The origin of the reflux may be structural (CCSVI stenosis) as proposed by Professor Zamboni or it may be a "temporary" stress reaction to a toxic substance. Dr. Zamboni has observed damaged veins in the necks and backs of MS patients. My hypothesis is that childhood stress actually deforms the circulatory system in a child’s growing body and menstrual cramps in a growing girl may be one factor. (Frequent viral illnesses, food intolerances, frequent medications are others) You don’t have to accept that idea, but you do need to realize that the initial damage is a blood reflux into the CNS like a series of strokes and the immune system responds to heal the damage, hence all that inflammation and other factors. To treat MS without angioplasty one needs to remove the stress (e.g. glutens, aspartame, mercury, viruses, any toxin including medication, ambition) and enhance blood circulation (massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, self acupressure, kinesiology, osteopathy, swimming). I have found a simple neck massage forcing blood down towards the heart is enough to stop an “attack”. However, those with a definite vein blockage will require angioplasty or some intervention.
My treatment: De-toxify, Paleo-Macrobiotic diet (no glutens, include raw veggie juice), Supplements, Daily Self acupressure to enhance blood circulation, occasional acupuncture, back/neck adjustments, Oscillococinnum to prevent viruses. (Good nutrition which includes supplements (such as zinc, Cal-Mag and Vit D etc) serves two primary purposes. It prevents stress on the vascular system and heals damaged tissue.)
My site MS Cure Enigmas.net provides a more complete assessment.

Vesta- How did you change you change your diet and how did you detox? What improvements did you see?

Hi Selmahope,
To be brief, I had help. After 4 years of going downhill (and running a perfume shop which poisoned me even more) I found a kinesiologist /nutritionist who used muscle testing to determine my food intolerances, diet and supplements. The years previous I had helped myself by getting treatments for acupuncture and chiropractic which I now realize were stopping "attacks" by opening the blood circulation. I also worked on a supplement regimen (evening primrose oil really helped the PMS and female problems.) However, while all that helped I continued to go downhill.
Rather then repeat what I have written on my site, please consult the main page and then the blog page the paleo-macrobiobitic diet (also explains muscle testing), self acupressure and detox and supplements.
My diet at the time was very strict, no lactose, wheat, rye, barley, oats, legumes ie beans including soy, coffee, tea, sugar etc
Yes to crude raw vegetables, 12 cups raw veggie juice a week, 4 servings raw fish a week etc. (I have to add this to my diet page, I just found the file)
Dr. Scott told me it would take 5 days to detox from all the "allergies" defined through muscle testing. The first 3 days were pure hell. It's amazing to think that coffee and wheat could act like some toxic drug. After 5 days my vision problem disappeared and I began to feel better. '(He also used Standard Process supplements to help the detox) After 6 months I had diarrhea (he said this meant I was flushing out the toxins) and then my intestines functioned normally for the first time in my life. After a year I began to feel the symptoms of an "attack" but in fact the nerves were healing and I recovered completely (stopped limping, could walk normally for miles) so that my neurologist declared I couldn't possibly have had MS. That was the first healing. (I think those in the "spongy" early phase can recover like I did) But then I moved to France and went off my diet and was under extreme stress and lost ground. However, since I read about CCSVI summer 2010 I have found that a neck massage pushing blood down towards the heart is enough to stop an "attack" and had I known that in 1992 I wouldn't need a cane to walk today. I resumed the diet in January 2012 and do feel better but I don't expect the dramatic recovery I had in 1985. But I use self accupressure to open blood circulation and swim when I can and feel I can keep things under control. I'm not "toxic" as I was up to 1984, those problems didn't return. My site is a work in progress, I need to work on the history, find papers etc., maybe do a you tube on the self acupressure. I just don't think one missing supplement will turn things around, chances are most people need to detoxify and deal with the blood circulation issue. (Actually I was taking zinc before the healing.) I hope that begins to answer your question.

True. While we shouldn't overdose on zinc we do have to ensure we are getting sufficient. Zinc is fundamental to immune function and is required for MELATONIN production so without sufficient zinc neither Vitamin D3 nor Melatonin will work optimally and these are the cornerstones of our immune function system. It's never too late to improve immune function and that involves restoring a NATURAL vitamin D, melatonin, omega 3, magnesium and zinc status.
But remember, these work best together, as a team, so ALL are required, together, at the same time. You have to have corrected ALL simultaneously and keep them optimal for 2~3 years in order to experience the benefit.

absolutely! measuring and long term monitoring, 100! the zinc corrects the low uric acid levels seen in ms patients too. there's no specific study i've seen, but i put the science together in pieces, applied it to myself, and presto, fixing my zinc defiency bounced my uric acid level off the ms average and up towards the healthy control zone so fast, i couldn't believe it. i have to be careful with my d3 intake now b/c my dose response is triple what it used to be. my body's in charge of making its own melatonin, i can't see myself taking that kind of thing. not so far anyway! one of these days, if i have a masochistic moment, i'd be curious to see the results of a follow-up LP to see if i've eradicated the o-bands etc...
