Since I cannot find a more appropriate forum for this topic of dental amalgam and since I know some members here are interested in the topic, I am posting this article from Dr. Joseph Mercola here in General Discussion:

NYU Dental School Going 'Mercury-Free?' http://articles.mercola.com/sites/artic ... L_artNew_2

I had all my Amalgam removed, and although I felt no different, I do feel happy they are gone.

If anyone else is thinking of having their amalgam removed, make sure the dentist that performs the task uses a dental dam and a breathing mask, on you as well as him/herself.

People who have never had fillings (amalgam) still get MS.

yeah, Dave's right...mercury is an endothelial disrupter, causes oxidative stress and is not great to have in the mouth, but most believe it won't cause MS, and removing it won't stop MS. Jeff still has his amalgam fillings. Breathing diesel exhaust, eating transfats, consuming pesticides, smoking, living in an industrialized civilization are all environmental factors in oxidative stress. Mitigating these endothelial disrupters can help everyone's health.

Here's one paper from a researcher that found a strong correlation of amalgam and MS.

Siblerud et al..Evidence that mercury from silver dental fillings may be an etiological factor in multiple sclerosis. Science of the Total Environment, 1994 Mar 15
Abstract: This paper investigates the hypothesis that mercury from silver dental fillings (amalgam) may be related to multiple sclerosis (MS). MS subjects with amalgams were found to have significantly lower levels of red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit compared to MS subjects with amalgam removal. Thyroxine levels were also significantly lower in the MS amalgam group and they had significantl lower levels of total T Lymphocytes and T-8 (CD8) suppressor cells. The MS amalgam group had significantly higher blood urea nitrogen and lower serum IgG. Hair mercury was significantly higher in the MS subjects compared to the non-MS control group. A health questionnaire found that MS subjects with amalgams had significantly more (33.7%) exacerbations during the past 12 months compared to the MS volunteers with amalgam removal.
