Hormones and myelin

Sharon,

This is my be nice to Sharon week. Another article on hormones.

My advice for men on how to avoid MS - avoid EBV; don't use sunscreen; don't drink from aluminium cans; up your testosterone levels. Not sure how you achieve the last one.

Sharon the article has a good link to all the sex hormone research.

You might remember my bald men don't get MS theory (on the basis that excess testosterone usually causes hair loss in men) and that Raven and I still have full heads of hair. This theory was shot down by balding Terry.

My next theory - womanisers / men with high sex drives (I'm assuming such men have high testosterone levels) don't get MS. Researchers could interview all the men coming out of lap-dancing clubs or sex shops. It might sound mad but there's bound to be some researcher funded by the NMSS doing just this. My evidence - Henry VIII (six wives) didn't get MS, nor did Bill Clinton.

PS I better add - my advice is not medical advice, consult you doctor etc.

Bromley--

I like it when you have a be nice to Sharon week. :) I'm laughing way too hard from your post and have to go to work. All I can say is maybe I should change my occupation. These hormones do wonders for one's sex drive. 8)

Sharon,

Not sure if you are making a pass at me? I'm glad your sex-drive is good. Unfortunately, I'm happily married, but Arron is always on the look out for a lovely lady.

Ian

PS On second thoughts, if I had an affair with you, this would increase my testosterone which would help with my myelin production.

Sorry, but you forgot about Montel Williams, an American talk show host who is both bald and a notorious womanizer and has MS. Perhaps he has candida overgrowth, HHV virus, forgot to remove his dental fillings, etc. etc.

Brownsfan--ok, another theory down the drain I guess. No womanizing guys.

Bromley--I'm still laughing. No, not making any passes to you or Arron, just a moment of thinking out loud about the MS research trial you imagined they might fund. I'm very glad you're happily married, and, have a sense of humor too.

I hope to read the info on the NMSS link some time this week end. Thanks again.
