Greetings! I am a "newbie" to this forum, so please forgive me if I am asking about something that is already a topic, that i did not see - I am 53, female, recently diagnosed, but probably have had MS since my early 30s. I have a big issue with hot flashes, and i don't know if that is related to MS or just the "change". My question is, since heat is a "no-no" with MS, how does this effect my symptoms? Any advice on that?

hi ceebee. welcome to TIMS

my wife has them but we do not think they are related to MS except that the drugs she took for MS caused the 'change'. i do not know if MS makes them worse/more frequent.

i have noticed no affect on other MS symptoms. it is not like the heat she gets from a hot bath.

good luck.

I don't know and I don't have hot flashes (yet). I do know that the medication I am looking into to manage hpa axis dysregulation is also used to reduce hot flashes. It's called clonidine. Might give you more than hot flash relief :)
