This spastisity effectin my left hip is crazy.
And Last week my neuro ordered me to wean
off xanaflex MR. :(
then luckily I found this and a post about
magnesium oil! (thank you)
After reading about dryness and itching caused
by mag oil, I am looking to purchase a magnesium
body butter i found on etsy and will use
Causiously.

Those news pieces are horrifying.

if you go for an oral supplement those are safe. not like gargling Epsom salts at all!! they're not all created equal though. magnesium glycinate is a good absorbable form for oral purposes. what brand is the mag body butter?

The handmade magnesium body butter is on etsy.com, from "mama bee's favors."
She is making me a sample size set (per my request) of the different scents.
Not sure on the type of mag in there, I will ask.
I imagine these magnesium flakes appear as a standard of some type.
I will report back here with my experience.
Thanks fo listening and everything.

for external purposes since they're listed as 'flakes' then likely magnesium chloride, but would be interesting to double check. looks like 2c. is the suggested amount for using flakes in bath water. similar to using Epsom salts for bathing. would be interesting to compare efficacy. not much jumping out at me in the research. everything's internal applications but of course much more tightly controlled than when as in the toxicity examples above, private individuals misuse an external product for internal applications.

Magnesium Application and Use: Magnesium Oil / Magnesium Flakes / Magnesium Gel / Magnesium Lotion

It is very difficult to overcome Magnesium deficiency using oral Magnesium only.

For useful information on Magnesium, I recommend the book, The Magnesium Miracle:

I personally didn't note any changes to clonus. I did and do however notice a difference while on 4-AP; compounded.

used to have it, now I don't. but I've worked on so many things it's hard to say which one or which combination made the difference. cob, remind me if you have a recent serum magnesium test result on the books anywhere? i'm always curious about that when things don't work. also do I recall you have not had success finding magnesium glycinate there? or did that situation change?

I think it does. My doctor seemed a bit surprised when she tested me for clonus. My clonus is gone.
Note: I have been taking a lot of Mg for many months. I don't know if oral Mg alone would do it. I also stopped the Vitamin D, which uses up Mg.

The RDA's are for healthy people with no nutrient deficiencies. Who among us fit these catagories?

I still have overly brisk patellar reflexes that I hope to also get rid of with the topical and oral Mg.

When cells contain too little Mg they are hyperexcitable.

Unfortunately, it is recommended to increase Mg intake gradually:

speak of the devil, was just going over this elsewhere :) and, indeed! shock to the system. the body is not designed for sudden high dosing in concentrations far higher than any food. personally, i tend to spread out doses and coincidentally it approximates reasonable serving sizes (eg, i'll take 100mg at a time, and a cup of boiled spinach delivers about 150mg)

Not for the sake of argument: The RDA's are for healthy people with no nutrient deficiencies. Who among us fit these catagories?
