General Facts About Alzheimer's Disease


Well, reasonably and objectively, most people with certain amount of general medical knowledge would know that Alzheimer’s disease is actually a degenerative brain disorder that destroys neurons and neural networks / connections in the cerebral cortex, resulting in significant loss of brain mass. And as such, Alzheimer’s disease naturally should be medically diagnosable through brain scans.

Next, generally & certainly, under usual circumstances, that could just be a normal metabolic & physiological phase / process of aging particularly when people get older and older.


Other than that, under other rarely known scenario, it’s very much worthy to take note that, apart from the genetic and congenital factors as sometimes being suggested, and given the undisputed fact that Alzheimer’s disease invariably involves the phenomenon of brain damages, then the related post-birth causes of it should be reasonably, objectively & inclusively taken into consideration as well, whilst one of the many examples would be the neurodegenerative side effects of certain mind-altering drugs as explained through the excerpts below:

And your point is?

The first thing about Alzheimers is that most people get it confused with SDAT.
Alzheimers is purely structural - the individual cells fuze together into plaques, This can cause some shrinkage in volume. So yes it can be detected by a scanner (if it is a good scanner taking very thin slice views).
SDAT has no structural signature, so a scanner will not find it.

Oh well, obviously Alzheimer's have nothing to do with MS. Next, while MS involves gradual, patchy destructions of the myelin sheath of nerve fibers, causing interruption or disordered transmission of nerve impulses, Alzheimer's is caused by destructions of the neurons and brain cells.

And so, given that nerve fibers, neurons (nerve cells) and brain cells can hardly regenerate themselves once they are seriously or fully destroyed, they can thus hardly be 100 % perfectly and fully cured by modern medical science thus far. As such, they are thus both of neurodegenerative nature.
