Dear all,

I am off to Mauritius on Wednesday so will not be logging on again until after Easter (admit it you're all jealous).

The research is coming in thick and fast so I'll be interested to see what else has arrived when I return.

But here's one for my best friend Sharon - she's big on hormones and it looks like she's be barking up the right tree. As usual a small trial, but I like the notion that brain tissue loss is slowed and all you have to do is put on some gel.

Ian

PS - I've never heard of testosterone gel before. Can you buy it from a pharmacy?

Ian, I know you can buy it online at some herbal and vitamin sites. If you do a google search, you'll find it. I'd try it myself but I don't want to grow hair on my chest.

Here in the States, Androgel is a controlled substance, and can only be acquired with a prescription. As a matter of fact, the prescriptions aren't even refillable; you need to get a new one every month.

Glad to see that there may be some benefit to T supplematation. I've been on Androgel for about 6 months, but have seen no halt in disease progression (I'm PPMS).

Wow. I saw homeopathic testosterone gel and one called fountain of youth when I was looking at hormone products at one vitamin place online. Is Androgel different from other testosterone gels? I live in the states too and I never would have guessed that any of them was a controlled substance. I guess it just seemed harmless. The ones you can find online must not be as potent or something. Must be pretty strong to require such safeguards.

Excessive Testosterone is suspected of causing testicular cancer. That is why it is probably prescription. My husband took a series of shots back in the 1980's due to a low tes. count. It's funny that he had an 8 year remission right after that. And the side effects are GREAT!

I think that the homeopathic gels are by and large utterly worthless. Testosterone is a very potent anabolic steroid, and is thus heavily regulated. Don't waste your money on the stuff available on vitamin websites.

Gary took shots at a DR's office. They work very fast and I imagine more potent that even the Androgel. They also make a patch, prescription only.
