Probiotics

Hello,

I have read some interesting information on probiotics. Has anyone at one point taken probiotics for their MS and had a positive result? I have read some posts about negative results. I have never taken probiotics, but am considering it.

Scientific articles give me a headache, but from what I understand this article lists Lactobacillus paracasei DSM 13434, Lactobacillus plantarum DSM 15312 and Lactobacillus plantarum DSM 15313 as the three strains that when combined had a positive effect on EAE in mice.

The University of Maryland Medical Center has probiotics listed under their nutrition and supplements section on MS

Thanks,

Very important to keep the gut bacteria healthy and that is what probiotics do. I get my probiotic from fermented vegetables and kombucha tea.

Hi Alicia,
You might be interested in listening to the interview discussed in the post linked below which covered leaky gut syndrome which is also known as intestinal permeability. If I remember correctly, probiotics may have been part of the treatment used to help the speaker's son recover from juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
