Double Vision

First, I want to express again my thanks for answers to questions I have posted here. Regarding two recent ones, I am on my way to getting appointment at UCSF Clinic (I had asked about clinics in US) and I seeing GP tomorrow about pursuing possible celiac/glutein ataxia link.
So here is another. One of symptoms after initial episode was double vision, occuring only during heavy exercise (running). I thought it was clearing up a bit but its gotten worse. I realize this is probably not a positive development, its the reason I'm anxious about getting an assessment at UCSF. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has/or is experiencing this symptom, and finding out if they've had success with retraining eyes through exercises etc. or if there is any hope through surgery or other. Googling told me that its a not infrequent symptom, but it didn't tell me whether there is anything I can do about it.

I had double vision once, I woke up with double vision and that's what led me from doctor to optomistrist to specialist to diagnosis. It lasted for approx. 4 or 5 weeks. I was fitted for glasses with a special lens in one side and that corrected the vision.

It was very disconcerning and tiring, but pretty easily solved...thankfully it didn't last long.

Good luck and take care.

hi perhaps some dietary modifications can help.

my stepdad has macular degeneration and noticed a sudden improvement when he started taking omega 3 supplements. i imagine the anti-inflammatory nature of 0-3 might be beneficial in a case of ms-related inflammation of the optic nerve. if that's what is causing your double vision.

in the past i had a bf with a diff prob, not ms - to combat hypercholesterolemia, he turned vegan and his blood cholesterol dropped into the normal range and his glasses prescription got weaker.

i have been vegan for 15 years and in some ways it has not served me well, but i can tell u that the neurologist said i had some of the best optic nerves he'd ever seen (woo baby). although omitting animal products can be detrimental, maybe the benefits of eating a variety of healthful veggies to compensate has also helped my eyes. go for the beta carotene veg??

good luck and best wishes!
