Anyone ever try this Chinese herb? It apparently is a neuro protectant with possible neuro regenerative properties.

Gastrodin is a component of Life Extension's "Brain Shield" formulation:

I've been using this a few weeks now. The product I take has 300mg of Gastrodin in each capsule.

I take several over-the-counter supplements (like vinpocetine, phophatidyl_serine_matrix, gastrodin) for their benefit based on science and medical advice, but would be hard pressed to identify any specific benefit based on how I feel. At least I feel no worse.
In fact, the only things I take that I can definitely feel a positive benefit from are the prescription meds ampyra, trospium chloride (generic of sanctura), and verapamil (migraine prevention).

This is a full article, which includes dosages used in mouse models of PD.

It is interesting that it is confirmed it does cross the BBB. I am not sure of the correct way to upgrade mouse dosages to human, but the 30mg/kg in simple scaling would put it at around 4-5 Grams (ie 16x300mg tablets) for a 75 Kg human. Note, there was also no mention or tests of what this level of dosing would induce regarding toxicity / side effects.
