MS hug

I've never had the MS hug that people talk about. But I woke up today with more pain in my back than I've ever experienced. It's only on my lower left side and feels like a pulled or sprained muscle. It gives me sharp pain when I move too fast or bend in certain directions. I don't know how I could have stressed it in bed. But I'm wondering what you experience when you have MS hug? Does this sound like it, or is this just a muscle problem do you think?

Only on one side, feels like a sprain, and gets worse with movement in certain directions. Like I can't sit and look over my shoulder to the left. Thanks

doesn't sound like the ms hug to me... ms hug is I think at least in part due to a spasmed diaphragm. but ime it also felt like a kind of wide belt around the rib cage. perhaps a more severe version could be painful.

what's your daily d3/magnesium situation like lately?

thanks for the reply. It's much better today. Maybe a strain or something.

My vid d came in at 70 a few weeks ago. It was 80 last year. So I upped the dose. I take 8,000 and sometimes 12,000 IU. I take 250mg of magnesium.

I don't know about magnesium and calcium. I am dairy free so I know I don't get much calicum from my diet. But when I take calcium, even with magnesium, I don't feel very good, and my circulation gets bad--very cold hands and feet. How much calcium should people take if they are taking high vit d?

The MS Hug can present in many ways, and it can, indeed, be very painful, so painful that one of our members took his own life due to his pain--this was an extreme case, though.

If your pain continues, you might want to ask your doc for Lidocaine pain patches which stopped me from jumping off a bridge due to my MS Hug pain. Now, along with using the patches, I take methadone, Oxycontin, and Lyrica for my MS Hug pain.

the units for d3 were nmol/L I take it? 70 nmol/L?

what form of magnesium is your 250mgs? oxide? citrate? glycinate?

if you're taking 8000-12000 IU of d3 per day, I wouldn't think 250 of mag would be able to keep up, regardless of form...

Could be something as simple as a kidney stone on the move. They cause massive amounts of back pain, usually on just one side - for obvious reasons.

With that level of vitamin D the chances of a kidney stone would be much higher unless you drink a ton of water each day. The other option since it presented itself in the morning is as you stated, a strained muscle from sleeping. Happens to me regularly.
