Product Design for MS

Hello Everyone, my name is Sam.
I am an MFA candidate at the Academy of Art University in SF, CA. Currently I am engaged in a 2 year long thesis project on prosthetic design for debilitating disease. I have taken on this project because my father has MS and I think there is a lot of room to design for people facing difficult conditions...

Ultimately, it is my goal to design a product that helps with day to day life while also changing the way that use of assistive products are viewed.

I could really use some help with my research to uncover key needs.
Specifically, I want to know about the difficulties of daily living. Where do the crunch points lie that might serve as opportunities to design around?
