  • Woman fired for defying dress code
MS patient with walking aid can't wear dresses

EDMONTON - A longtime employee of Weight Watchers has filed a complaint with the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission after she was fired for not complying with the company dress code that requires her to wear a skirt and pantyhose.

Wendy Moger, who has multiple sclerosis, started wearing pantsuits about a month ago after having an electronic walking aid fitted to her leg.

After nine years as a meeting leader with the company, the 50-year-old's employment was terminated on June 30 because she was not able to adhere to the dress code.
    • ...
She said the WalkAide device, which is strapped below her knee and sends shock waves to her foot telling it when to flex, has greatly improved her mobility.

"These electrodes have to touch my skin," she said. "I can't put pantyhose under them. I can't put pantyhose over them."

I'm disgusted by Weight Watcher's corporate response and hope she gets them good. It's shocking and appalling that she would be fired for this. I hope there is a lot of media exposure and the result is very bad publicity for Weight Watchers. Shame on them.

could you imagine firing someone for this? If the story is entirely as presented, sometimes you just have to wonder at the sheer lack of intelligence in so called "adult human beings."

Some ppl, such as those at Weight Watchers, just never learn....until something hits the pocketbook, and those oh so important bottom lines!
